LINGERING ALASA

Life is hard Chalé! Life is hard! Deep this, we are told life is a race, and I couldn’t have agreed more with that analogy. That analogy i must say is beyond perfect and could only have been inspired by God, nothing short of a brilliant revelation.

Life never stops, at a certain point, all of a sudden life picks up a certain momentum, you are constantly on the move, one thing after another, this and that, odds and ends, bits and bobs, knick and knacks, it never ends, just regular pit stops that require you to reach into your limited edition mixed bag of experiences to tame split second life transforming decisions.

Imagine running a race non stop, where you can but only slow down, where stopping is not an option, just imagine that. That is exactly how life is ”The never ending race of life”. Imagine running non stop for 5 minutes, for 5 hours, for 5 days, for 5 months, non stop for 5 years, I do not know how old you are, but whatever that age is only means you have been running, non stop for that number of years, and just like me you are tired, hence you cannot tell me life isn’t hard! Actually let’s say it together, ready, set, go! Life is not beans!

But there are a people, a remarkable breed that could only but function from a height that is way above the norm. A particular specie of human beings…are they even human? That is the question. They will always choose different, they choose the odd, in comparison to what is referred to as normal, but then again who indeed defined what can be categorised as normal? What indeed is normal?

A group of people who decide to choose different everyday, a group of people who refuse to walk on the path of the ordinary but purpose to constantly tread the path of unique, different, remarkable, peculiar, they choose to walk on the path of…hard, yet they do so with such Grace and Poise. Heads held high, with great aplomb and dexterity, they mark this world, leaving their dent, creating ripples that are felt for generations. They colour our world and illuminate our lives with such rays of sunshine, they force us to morph into moons, reciprocating some amount of their rays for those around us.

They choose to respond in contrary to what we would expect from them, on the foundation of what they have been through, looking at how far they have come, that shouldn’t have been their response , but guess what? They chose that anyway. They leave footprints that are memorable, and deeply embedded in our minds, in our hearts and spirits. They cause us to reconsider our past decision and yearn us on to strive and do better, to be better.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Love does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres…Love always…

Love never fails, and now these three remain: faith, hope and love, the greatest of these being love. These bunch are love and love is them.

So to those who have gotten their heart broken so many times yet hold on to hope and still choose to love anyway, to those who family has failed them, yet they consciously and diligently work at starting new families with a strong family bond, to those who reach into their very shallow pockets to lend a hand, to those who despite all they have suffered choose to press the pause button on their lives so they can lend an ear, to those who have been through and are still going through pain.

To those who choose to document their pain in sweet sounding melodies to encourage others, to those who choose to operate from that pedestal and choose to relate to others on the basis of what God expects and not based on what they deserve, for those who choose to smile and shout a Goodmorning to passers by who didn’t cross the street at least yet still widened the gap.

To those who have discerned this really basic yet important fact that seems to elude everybody, the fact that our very existence is to love and be loved. Today, I choose to put you up on a pedestal. So you! Yes you!

THIS IS FOR YOU!
